Our method
Six rules, written down so they can be held against us.
Costs as ranges, with a year
Prices move. Any figure is given as a range and dated, so a reader can judge how stale it is.
Where a range comes from workshop quotations rather than published data, that is stated.
Described, not prescribed
Techniques are explained so a reader can follow a conversation with a professional.
We do not instruct anyone to carry out structural or braking work on a specific car.
No rankings
Workshops, suppliers and marques are not ranked. Criteria for judging them are published instead.
Where a supplier is named it is because the piece cannot be written without it.
Corrections at the foot
Errors are corrected and the change is noted with a date at the foot of the piece.
Corrections are not absorbed silently.
Commercial independence
No advertising, no sponsored pieces, no affiliate links, no commission from any workshop.
Advisory sessions are billed openly and have no bearing on editorial choices.
No photographs of people
Images here show cars, tools and workshops. No visitors, owners or staff are photographed.
It removes the consent question rather than managing it.
If a figure here is out of date, tell us and it gets corrected with a note.
